Open Question: Can you drive to Alaska in January or February?

I'm in the Air Force, stationed in Oklahoma City. I just got orders to move to Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage, AK. I have to be there by the end of February. I'd LOVE to drive up there, but I'm curious as to what the general road conditions are like on the Alaska highway around the end of January or beginning of February? Anybody ever done that drive before in the winter? I'd be driving my 2008 Pontiac G6. Nice, reliable, front wheel drive car. I figure that it's the only road going to Alaska, and 18 wheelers are going down it all winter, right? Any thoughts?... read more
